Saloon's quirky

The Saloon has to be on your list of top beer gardens in DC. Its very convenient to the U St. metro stop! They have a great selection of German beers and respectable sampling of other great regions like Belgium. The staff show a sensitivity for manners that may take back some folks who forget that civilization is based on simple things like manners (and grain!), and believe that their money is good enough to make up for their lack of social graces. The staff don't mind letting you know you can take your money elsewhere if you run afoul of their sensibilities. You know a bar that respects their customers when they serve you a glass of water with your beer. No, its not to rinse your mouth between brews, its to combat dehydration - a beer drinker's constant hazard!
